Our united action is powerful! Honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month and YWCA Week Without Violence and join us on the south steps of the Statehouse (location subject to change) on Friday, October 20, at 11:30 AM as we uplift the voices of survivors, advocates and allies who are working tirelessly to disrupt systems and eliminate barriers around the issue of domestic violence. Add your voice and help make our community a safe and supportive space for survivors.
This year, participants will enjoy performances from the Top City Step Team before hearing remarks from YWCA CEO Kathleen Marker, CSE Program Director Becca Spielman, and Gail Cheatham, Chairperson of the Kickapoo Tribe of Kansas. Participants will then march to YWCA Northeast Kansas for lunch, snacks, and beverages served by the Shawnee County Sherriff’s Office and the Topeka Police Department. Purple awareness ribbons and custom-made t-shirts and buttons sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas will be provided to participants (while supplies last).
