MEDIA ADVISORY

YWCA’s 2022 Week Without Violence

WHEN: Monday, October 17th, 2022 10 AM

WHERE: Binghamton City Hall

WHAT: Flagraising Event for YWCA-Week Without Violence

YWCA’s 2022 Week Without Violence campaign: Centering Survivors, focuses on how today’s most divisive issues and headlines are impacting victims and survivors of gender-based violence.

By raising awareness of the ways polarizing issues impact survivors, we can bridge divides and build support among voters, candidates, and policymakers for the services and solutions survivors need. Join us from October 17-22, 2022 as we raise awareness, elevate survivor voices, talk with policymakers, and more with a common goal: centering survivors so that together, we can end gender-based violence.

YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Our programs include: Residential Services providing emergency shelter, supportive housing, and programming for homeless women who face issues of domestic violence, substance abuse, and mental health; ENCORE Plus providing breast cancer outreach, education and advocacy as well as access to free annual mammograms and PAP screenings for uninsured women; and Young Wonders Early Childhood Center providing a loving, caring learning environment for children.
